Re: Jury Duty

Well, nothing to exciting became of it.  I was called to a courtroom along with about 20 others.  We were questioned on a case that was a misdemeaner and I was not selected to serve.  Funny, they kept telling everyone not to feel bad if we weren’t selected.  It didn’t mean we weren’t a good juror.  Just that we were not the best for the particular trial.  I’m thinking, please don’t select me.  I want to go home.  LOL.  I guess some folks might feel insulted…me if I’m selected I’m happy to serve, but I’m even happier to be sent home.  ;-)

I’m taking my kids over to the beach in a little while.  There is a scouting event there in the morning and I don’t want to get up and deal with the younguns at 5 in the morning…so we’re gong to stay the night with another Mom friend of mine and just walk over to the park in the morning.  Right now it is storming big time.  Sure hope it lets up a bit so that we can enjoy the time over there.

Jury Duty

I’m serving jury duty today.  They have a really nice tech area for anyone who wants computer access…so I thought I’d take this undisturbed time to stop in and post.  Last time I was here was 11 years ago.  Actually I wasn’t here because we have a new courthouse since that time, but you know what I mean.  I was dismissed because the jury I was interviewed for turned out to have a witness that I kinew personally.  Wonder if I’ll be so lucky today.

I’ve brought along tons of stuff with me to keep me occupied and hopefully accomplish something.  I’ll let you know what becomes of the event when all is said and done.  Have a wonderful Monday!

Check it Out!

My niece called me yesterday to tell me to check out this local radio stations website.  This is what I found

It’s my great niece and my daughter.  My daughter was Hermione (dressed like Cho with a great deal of her costume missing at this point, LOL) and my niece is Tonks.  We made a costume for Cho for DD being it fit her looks better and she decided she wanted to be Hermione as we were leaving.  UGH.  So when everyone came up to her and told her what a wonderful Cho she was, we would reply, “And she’s an even better Hermione!”  LOL

It is Finished!

I finished the book on Monday afternoon.  It was actaully physically exhausting to finish.  I cried, I laughed, I cheered and I cried some more.  She did an excellent job!  Cudos to JK!

I ran into the teacher I was hoping DD would get in the coming school year.  She said she got a glimpse of her class list and she believes DD to be at the top of it.  It was a very fast glimpse so she can’t be sure…but she’s pretty sure that’s the name she saw.  Yeah!  I’ve still got to run up to chat with the principal about DS though.  He’s the one I worry most about.  A teacher at this point can make or break him.  I don’t know the teachers real well, but I do know what his previous teachers have told me and suggested so that is what I’ll be sharing with him.  Ultimately the decision is up to him.  In the past I’ve trusted the principal to make those choices, knowing what he’s like…but this guy is new and doesn’t know the other teachers as well…so I’m not sure I have that trust.  I guess time will tell us.  Can you tell I still am missing the previous principal?  She was so good at “knowing” the kids.

Release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Here’s a couple of photos from the event last night.  We all had great fun.

Cho and Harry
Tonks

There was plenty to keep us entertained during the wait.  They had a great scavenger hunt with 50 questions scattered throughout the store.  It was a challenge to find them all and we didn’t complete it in the amount of time we had, but we did get it done before leaving and had a lot of fun finding the questions and trying to remember the answers.  We did a pretty good job of remembering the specifics I thought.  There was a magician there as well as a “Potions Master” from the Orlando Science Center.  He did some very cool (Ha! Ha!  since he was working with liquid nitrogen that is a funny pun) experiements.  The best part of all was standing in the crowd at the front of the store as one of the employees hopped on the counter at one minute till midnight and got everyone’s attention.  With 10 seconds left she began a countdown and the excitment was bubbling.  Cudos Barnes & Noble!  A grand time was had by us all!  And the book is now in my hands and we have begun the ending of the journey into the world of Harry Potter!
