Up and Adam

Current Mood:Happy emoticon Happy

Or is it up and at ‘em?  My kids were up at 5:30 this morning.  I heard them but didn’t get up.  Everything stayed quiet so I figured they settled back in.  I got up at 7 and they were sitting in the living room watching TV quietly together.

OKAY!  Who are you and what did you do with my children?  I always have to encourage (that’s the nice way of putting it) them to get up and out of bed.  They NEVER sit quietly together and do anything quietly.    The thing that put me over the edge was, They went and got into the car without me telling them to, 5 minutes early!  Who are these invaders?

Having a class where you are happy is making a big difference around our home.  I am thrilled for my son!  I think the fact that it is Friday and they only have one more week left of school before Christmas (oh wait a minute….)  I’ll bet they know Santa is watching.  Whatever it is, I’m off to a good start on this Friday.  Hope you are too!

P.S.  If you didn’t comment on zorries, I still want to hear your input.  (Please, )

Zorries

While visiting a local Boy Scout Troop with my son’s Cub Scout Troop, one of the fathers and I were going through some information on an upcoming camping trip that they are taking.  He’s reading a list of supplies the boys are to take along and came across the word “zorries”.  He looked at me with the look of total confusion (that only a father can have) and asks, “What are zorries?”

I knew the answer.  But for the life of me I don’t know why.  The question of choice around me now is…”What are zorries?”  I am astonished at the number of folks that don’t know.  I decided to use the term on locals.  Must be a local term.  NOT.  My nephew didn’t have a clue.  He was born and raised  around these parts.  So I decided…must be a Tennesee term.  (My family hails from Tennesee.)  Nope.  My Tennessee friends don’t know what it is.  I asked my friend’s neighbor and he knew.  He comes from Ohio.  Nope…Tennessee wasn’t the answer.  Must be an “old” term as he was and old man and I assume I must have learned it from my parents. I question one of my sisters.  She’s from the same background and yes, she knows what they are.  She said she had a strong feeling it was a “Japanese” word that she picked up when they were in Japan.  (Years before I was born)  Ah?  Maybe there is some truth in that.  It would explain why and ”old” man from Ohio would know as he was probably involved in the war with Japan.  I guess I learned it when my parents returned from Japan and continuted to use the term.  Any insite?  Do you know what zorries are?  If yes, where are you from and where did you hear the term used?  I’m on a quest to find out why I know what that word means.

Felix Navitoss!

My niece sent me this today.  One of my pet peeves is Christmas with no mention of why we celebrate.  I had someone once question some cards I was sending because they were “religious” and the people I was sending them to were not.  Then why do they celebrate Christmas?  Christmas is a religious holiday.  I loved this link.  Click on the red light to start the video.  Nails it on the head!

Two Weeks Till Christmas.

Where does the time go? I still have so much to get done and just realized this morning that I only have two weeks to do it. Actually less as family begins to arrive the weekend before.

  • Still need to get holiday photos done.
  • I still have my letter to create and prepare to send out.
  • Still need to get up DD’s Christmas Village.

I’ve worked a bit on my holiday site, but don’t believe I’ll be able to finish it this year. You can take a peak if you like.

Off to try to get some more shopping done.

Ah! Monday and all is well!

I dropped the children at school this morning.  Felt so good to be happy about that again.  I picked up some cat food, went to the post office and dropped off a shoe to be fixed at the shoe repair shop.  Now I’m home and all is quiet.  Ahhh!

I get to clean the fridge out today.  Tomorrow is trash day and I’d like to have all of it ready to go.  I’m in the mood for cleaning today so that is a good thing.  The Lord knows there is plenty of it to be done around here.  I spent an entire day on the living room Saturday and I can still think of some things to do in there.  (Baseboards, behind the piano….)

Okay, I had to laugh at this.  My husband was traveling with Delta yesterday.  His flight left at 2:00 but was supposed to have left at 1:00.  At 4:15 (2+ hours after the flight has gone) I got a call from Delta (for him) saying that the flight time had been rescheduled and would be departing now at 2:00.  (Uhm…if he didn’t know this by now….)  Then his connecting flight was changed from 5 to 6:15.  Not 5 minutes later, they called again and repeated the first part of the message the same but changed the second part to say that the flight was departing at 5:00. I’m scratching my head wondering why they even think he’d be home to get that message and wondering why the cell # wasn’t used.   Since DH had already completed the first leg of the flight  I just called his cell and left the message with a giggle.  He got in and told me his side of the story.  He’d already let me know of the change in departure before he left..  When he got to Atlanta they told him at the gate he’d be departing at 6.  Then when he looked at the board it said 5.  So he had to make a mad dash to the new gate to catch the flight.  Delta, Delta, Delta!  What are you doing!?!  Sure makes you put your trust in the company doesn’t it?

Happy Monday!  I’m off to clean.
