Glad it’s Friday

Whew! What a whirlwind week. Thinking back I can barely remember all that has occurred but I know I haven’t stopped and I’m glad it’s over.
I’m trying to maintain a positive attitude toward DS’s new school but it’s a struggle. I’ve had dealings in the front office several times thus far and can’t say enough positive stuff about working with them. They have been very polite and helpful. DS has been happy and I’ve not heard anything negative (well, that I would consider negative, LOL. He thinks having homework is just plain mean!) from him. I’m the one that has to watch my mouth because he hears and takes to heart my feelings. My big complaint comes from what was expected of me as an elementary school teacher and what I see coming from the school in communication. I have found three grammer errors thus far on their WEBSITE! EVERYTHING we sent home to the “whole” class had to be proof-read. We are professionals and need to portray “professional” in all of our dealings with the public. (more…)

Here He Is!

Current Mood: Cheerful On August 19th, at 4:51 pm, the newest member of our family, David Owen, my great nephew, arrived, weighing in at 7 lb., 4.7 oz, and measuring 19 and 3/4″. He missed my birthday by 7 hours and 10 minutes. I guess you can call him an early birthday present.  This is when it really stinks living so far away from family.Â
 Here he is! (more…)

It Is a Wet, Wet, Day!
Current Mood: & Housework It is very wet out today. It’s not coming down hard, but it is a steady drizzle. I woke up stuffy this morning and have taken some drugs to help clear my head. So far, I’m not feeling it. Surprisingly though, I do feel energetic and up to doing the things I haven’t felt up to the past two days. So I’m getting ready to jump in and get some stuff done. Kitchen is in order, but the house needs vacuuming and dusting. (more…)

It’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood…
Current Mood: Cheerful & Birthday Girl Our neighbors have been out of town and I’ve been taking care of their home. This entails going to get the newspaper, feeding the feral cats and other animals who like cat food. They have me keep the door of the garage opened slightly so that the cats can get in and out of their garage for shelter. I go down and put a can of wet food and a bowl of dry in both the front and back yards. There’s one pitiful cat that I put a bowl of milk out for as she’s old and on her last leg so to speak. Well, yesterday afternoon I walk into the garage to start my rounds and there is this awful “dead” odor. I’m worried it’s the old one who decided to bow out on my watch. She runs to greet me so I’m relieved. I look around a bit and find the little darlings have caught a squirrel and left me a birthday gift. I had DD with me so kept her away from the “real” reason for the smell and left. DH just went down to deal with it. UGH! Better he than me! (more…)

Quick Update
It’s been dreary here today, but not too bad. The coastal area about an hour and a half south-west of us seems to be feeling the brunt of this storm. Oddly Faye has picked up steam while over land. That is very unusual. We’re waiting and watching what she will do next. Predictions right now take her out to sea and back in north-east of us. But she seems to be stalling in the last few hours and may begin her northerly track sooner rather than later which will affect us more. For now, school is supposed to be back in session tomorrow. But we’ll wait and see what she does. Right now we have one of the bands coming through with some rain and wind. I’m getting the kids ready for bed now so that we can get up in the morning if we need to.
