It is so peaceful and quiet here this morning. I love that feeling on Monday morning. Mondays seem the only time I get peace and quiet anymore.
DD and I went to a local mall and spent the night with the girl scouts. I wasn’t sure it would be fun because I’m not big on shopping, but we had a blast! This mall has a Monkey Joes, a Vans Skate Park and indoor Putt Putt course, and the girl scouts had other activities lined up as well. One of the most fun was they set up a cat walk and had the girls do a pajama fashion show. Here’s my friend and I dressed and ready to walk the walk. I am the one in back.

I have that glazed over look because it’s 2 in the morning and I’m ready to drop. DD had her nails done. That is one of her favorite things to do. Here she is showing off her lovely choice of the color blue with sparkles on top.
 Look at my lovely nails!
We got to sleep somewhere between 3 and 4 am. The lights were shining brightly the entire night so it made for a light sleep. Then we were wakened at 6 am for cleanup and getting out by 7 am. DD and I both were thrilled to find our beds as soon as we walked in the door. I slept about 2 hours Saturday morning. DD got in another 4. Then we went to bed on time Sat night and I took another 1 hour nap Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday we attended one of our Potluck Club gatherings. The name of our group was taken from the title of one of Amy Tan’s novels, The Joy Luck Club. The Potluck Club is a group of parents who have adopted from originally China, but it has expanded to include families who have adopted from other countries as well. Most of our girls are between 4 and 8, so it was thrilling yesterday to see a baby. Mom just came back with her little girl 10 days ago. She was gorgeous and had very obviously already begun a strong attachment. It is hard not to grab those babies and hug and squeeze them, but it is also very thrilling to see the strong attachments to mom and dad so soon after their introductions. The food is always good and the support for both the children and the parents who understand and have gone through the same process and share many of the same issues is a wonderful aspect as well.
Well, I’ve got tons to do today. So I guess I best get off my duff and get busy. Until next time…
