Oh I am one dragging mama! I still have the kitchen to clean. My reward for cleaning it is when I’m done, I get to go to bed. Sad, sad!

Today I went to the library with the girls. I think I have the perfect daughter. I’m not sure though, as I’m her mother. LOL. I once heard “There is only one perfect child in this world, and every mother has one.” The more time I spend with other children I think my daughter is incredible. The more I look at my son and my daughter I think of how gorgeous they are. I’ve asked other friends if they feel the same way when they look at their children and they all respond with a resounding yes. God must give us some special gift in our hearts to see our children that way.

Well, I’m going to go and clean and think about my beautiful children and then head to bed. Night!

Monday Morning

Another week gone. This week ended with a big change in our homeschooling routine. My niece is joining us. She is 6 months younger than my daughter. It is more fun for my daughter to have someone else to work with. And my niece is struggling and really needs the one on one. It also allows them to play the learning games together and frees me up some to do other things instead of playing the little games.

This morning we’re off to the Wah Lum Temple to watch the Lion Dance for Chinese New Year. That’s our theme in school this week so this is a great opportunity that we would not have if we were in public school. I’m excited about seeing it. They are the best performing team for this dance in our area. It should be a good way to get us up and going too with all of the drums and cymbols. We’ll be good and awake when we leave.

It’s Inauguration Day

I was sent this in my email this morning and found it very touching. Being Inauguration Day here in the U.S. I also found it very appropriate.

I Still Have a Headache!

Current Mood:Wink emoticon Wink

I had Girl Scout Outdoor Leadership Training I and II this weekend. Of course it was the coldest night of the year thus far, down to 38 degrees F. We were in platform tents with openings all the way around the bottom. Brrr! I have the worst headache as a result of the cold and probably not drinking enough. (I didn’t want to have to get up in the middle of the night and walk to the bathroom!) I actually had a wonderful time otherwise and am thankful for the cold weather because the bugs weren’t out wandering around. We did see a black racer (snake) sunning itself in the afternoon sun, but that was about it for critters.

One of the coolest things we did was baking in a box oven. I am going to have to do that with my kids and then my girls. We’ll probably be creating it this week. It was so cool. I need to get me a coffee can first to make me a chimney for the coal brickets. The rest can be bought at Lowes, Walmart or Home Depot. I’ll share pictures as we create it. Too cool!

Today we’re headed off to the Science Center for Otronicon. DS wouldn’t miss it for anything. We’ll also be focussing on MLK, Jr and all that is going on with the Inauguration tomorrow. Exciting times!

I’m off to get me something for my headache and to drink more water. Have a wonderful Monday.

Oh Baby, It’s Cold Outside!

Current Mood:Sleeping In emoticon Sleeping In

It’s 45 degrees F, at 10:00 in the morning.  I know!  We Central Floridians are whimpy when it comes to cold.    I’m greatful for Florida at these times.  I actually enjoy this cold.  I could do with a few more days of it.  I pray for folks like those in N. Dakota with below freezing temps.

Today is a holiday in our home.  No school and we got to sleep in.  The cold made that even better.  DH left for work early and the rest of us slept on.  When it was time to begin stirring, both kids joined me in my bed for a snuggle and we giggled and snuggled for several minutes.  It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to enjoy a morning like this.  Breakfast this morning was donuts, another one of those rare events.  Coffee was wonderful and now our day begins.  I hope your day brings you great joy today too.
