| No More Stinking Chickens! |
|
Current Mood: I got over the desire to have the chicks very quickly. I still have a neighbor’s rabbit on my back porch. I’m hoping she’ll go back home soon. I know they’re home as I’ve seen their car out front, but I haven’t heard from them about their rabbit yet. If I don’t hear soon I’ll call and we’ll take her back. Now my sis is wanting me to keep her dog for them while they go on vacation. I think I need to begin charging rent for the creatures that are coming to visit. Makes me think of the “Dog Hotel”. Only 4 more weeks of school (officially). I am so ready for a break. It’s not so much the “homeschooling” as the running DS to his school and back and all of the events that go along with that. He had a track meet yesterday from 4-7:30 pm. UGH! By the time we got home it was 8:30 pm and time to start the bedtime routine. It takes such huge chunks out of my day. I just finished re-reading Pride and Prejudice. I so enjoyed it. I’m going to read Wuthering Heights next. I found a book at the bookstore that is a “companion novel” to pride and prejudice. It is supposedly written from Darcy’s point of view. Having stories retold from another character’s point of view is fairly new to me. I do remember reading some fairy tales from other character points of view (The Three Little Pigs from the Wolf’s point of view etc.). After reading the Twilight series, I found a link to another book that she had started of Twilight from Edward’s point of view. Someone posted it online before she finished it and she may never finish it now. (I hate when someone does something like that and thinks they’re so cool for it. Ruins it for everyone else!) I really hope that she can eventually go back and write it as it was great fun to read. My only issue with the novel that I saw in the store is that it was not done by Jane Austin herself. But it is tempting! There are several others by various authors that continue to story from the ending of Jane’s book. There were a couple of books out a few years back that were compiled of short stories written by various authors in the style of Hemingway. “The Best of Bad Hemingway” These stories were written for a contest held at Harry’s Bar & Grill, in Century City, Calif. I laughed so hard when reading that book. So I guess I do enjoy when others try to write in the style of a specific author. I think I just talked myself into going back to B & N to get the book. |
